One of the most frequently asked questions I get is why did you choose to live in Fishers out of all of Hamilton County. For me, it’s simple – I didn’t! Luckily, it’s just where life has taken me. When I was in college my parents moved to Fishers, and after living in an apartment on the northeast side of Indianapolis, I moved in with my husband who happened to live in Fishers. Having lived here for almost ten years, you will have to pry me out of Fishers. So I guess the better question is – Why would you have to pry me out of Fishers?
The best answer I give people is whether you are single, married, have ten kids, or no kids, or if you are an empty nester – there is always something to do. If you prefer to spend your time alone, living in one of the safest cities, you can enjoy an evening in your own home with peace of mind.
According to Money Magazine, Fishers was ranked number 1 in 2017’s Best Places to Live. Many factor contributed to this victory, including 95% High School graduation rate, our “Launch Fishers” movement to bring businesses & jobs to our city, the events held at the Nickel Plate District, among other things. Many events at the Nickel Plate Ampitheatre are free and kid friendly.
This weekend alone there is Movies in the Park: Beauty & the Beast (2017), Fishers Tri Kappa Donut Festival, The Great Pumpkin Fest, City Recycling Day, Fishers Farmers’ Market: Fall Harvest Festival Celebration presented by IU Health Saxony Hospital, Shannon Smiles 5K run/walk at St. Louis de Montfort Fall Festival, and St. Louis de Montfort Fall Festival. All this in one (non holiday) weekend. If you visit: Fishers’ Website, you can see all the upcoming events happening in Fishers.
In short, Fishers has so much to offer me and my family. Every year we take our kids to Boo Bash to trick or treat, we go see fireworks downtown, and at Saxony & we attend many of the free concerts at the ampitheatre. We love Fishers and don’t plan to move out of this wonderful city anytime soon!
